Specialized freight

Tanker factoring

Liquid bulk, funded the same day when it's in by 11 AM CST. Washouts and detention billed on the same invoice, with no contract and no minimum.

Dedicated tanker work runs in cycles set by the customer, not the carrier. There is no minimum volume and no monthly commitment, so a slow contract period does not generate a bill.

The cash cycle

Why liquid tanker freight waits.

Tanker work carries the highest fixed cost per truck in the industry outside of heavy haul. Endorsements, specialized insurance, dedicated trailers that cannot simply be swapped to other freight, and a washout regime that is both mandatory and expensive. A tanker operation has more money tied up per truck than almost anyone, and less flexibility to redeploy it when a customer pays late.

Washouts deserve their own mention because they are a genuine cash item, not a rounding error. Changing product requires a documented cleaning, that cleaning is paid for at the time, and the reimbursement arrives on the invoice cycle if it was billed correctly and arrives never if it was not.

Factoring here is less about survival than about utilization: capital sitting in receivables is capital that cannot go into the next trailer or the next driver. Getting funded the same day, washouts and detention billed on the same invoice, is what turns a stable tanker book into one that can actually grow.

What rides in it

  • Fuel, diesel, and refined products
  • Industrial and agricultural chemicals
  • Food-grade liquids, edible oils, and juice concentrate
  • Crude oil and produced water
  • Liquid fertilizer and ag chemicals

Who pays the invoice

Refiners and fuel distributors, chemical manufacturers, food and beverage processors, oilfield operators, and tanker brokers.

This is what actually gets underwritten. Approval depends on your customer’s credit, not on your operating history.

Paperwork

What to send with the load.

Send all the paperwork related to the load. What that includes depends on the customer; these are the most common. Upload it all to the Smart Freight Portal.

Rate confirmation

The agreement with the broker or shipper, showing the load and the agreed rate.

Scale tickets

The weights, on any load that is weighed or paid by weight.

Bill of lading

Signed at delivery. It is the proof the load moved.

Not sure what a customer needs? Call and ask before you haul it.

How it works

Haul it, send it, get paid.

  1. 01Monday, 9:40 AM

    Haul the load

Book it wherever you book freight. You choose which customers you factor, customer by customer. Nothing obligates you to send us all of them.

  2. 02Monday, 10:15 AM

    Send the paperwork

Upload all the paperwork for the load to the Smart Freight Portal: usually the rate confirmation, scale tickets and bill of lading.

  3. 03Monday afternoon

    Get paid the same day

Loads submitted by 11 AM CST, Monday through Friday, are paid the same day. Loads submitted after 11 AM are paid the next business day. The money lands in your bank by ACH.

Questions

Liquid tanker factoring, answered.

Can washout costs be factored?

Yes, when the rate confirmation allows reimbursement and you send the certificate. It funds with the invoice rather than being chased separately, which is usually the difference between it being collected and it being forgotten.

Do you factor for tanker carriers pulling under a lease?

It depends on how the invoicing works under that lease, because we fund invoices you own. Call the office and describe the arrangement and we will tell you plainly whether it works, rather than putting you through an application first.

Get your liquid tanker invoices paid the same day.

The application takes a few minutes and commits you to nothing. No contract, no minimum, no monthly commitment.
