Nothing that locks you in
No contract, no notice period, no monthly minimum. We factor with recourse so we never need to lock you in, and you choose which customers you factor.
Born in bulk · Built for every load
Smart Freight Funding is a freight factoring company in Waterloo, Nebraska, founded in 2015 and part of the BulkLoads family. We made our name factoring bulk freight, and we factor every trailer type and any load.
Our story
Smart Freight Funding was founded in 2015 by Rachael Biesterfeld, Jared Flinn and Matt Fredin, who still own it. It started as a factoring company for bulk carriers: hopper bottoms, end dumps, pneumatics and walking floors, hauling freight that settles on scale tickets and is owed by elevators, quarries and plants.
Jared Flinn also co-founded BulkLoads, the load board for bulk freight, and Smart Freight Funding is part of the BulkLoads family of companies today. It keeps its own name, its own team and its own phone number.
Bulk is still the credit we know best, but it was never the limit. We factor flatbed, reefer, dry van, tanker, livestock and hotshot freight on the same terms as a hopper bottom.
We won’t make you sign a contract, because we don’t believe in them. You should be in control of your own money, and an arrangement that is good enough should not need a legal instrument to keep you in it. We are a company of about twenty people with more than 50 years of combined experience in dispatching, contracting and trucking accounting.

Quick facts
How we work
No contract, no notice period, no monthly minimum. We factor with recourse so we never need to lock you in, and you choose which customers you factor.
Every client is assigned an accountant who handles their receivables. Same person, same phone number, every time.
No menus, no callback queue and nobody reading from a script. Live support is available every day of the week.
We check the credit of every broker and shipper before you can factor their loads, so you know the invoice will fund before you book.
