Bulk freight · Where this company started

Bulk freight factoring

Hopper bottoms, end dumps, pneumatics and walking floors. Factoring from the company that made its name in bulk: no contract, no minimum, and same-day pay on loads in by 11 AM CST.

Why bulk is different

Bulk freight settles differently. We are built for it.

Smart Freight Funding started in bulk and is part of the BulkLoads family. Three things set bulk apart from van freight when it comes to getting paid.

Paid by weight, not by the load

Bulk settles on scale tickets, per bushel, per ton or per yard. The weigh-in and weigh-out are the load, so they are routine here rather than an exception someone has to escalate.

Commodity buyers, not just brokers

The invoice is often owed by an elevator, a quarry, a cement plant or a mill. What gets underwritten is that customer's credit, and bulk customers are the credit this company knows best.

Volume that comes in waves

Harvest, construction season and plant schedules make bulk volume swing. With no monthly minimum and no contract, a slow month costs nothing and a busy one has no cap.

Commodities

Bulk freight we fund.

If it moves loose in a trailer and gets invoiced, it can be factored. What decides it is the credit of the customer who owes the invoice.

Bulk questions

What bulk carriers ask.

What is bulk freight factoring?

Freight factoring for carriers hauling loose, unpackaged commodities: grain, fertilizer, aggregate, cement, sand, wood chips and the like. You sell the invoice for a load you have delivered and get paid right away, and the factoring company collects from your customer.

Do you only factor bulk freight?

No. Bulk is where Smart Freight Funding made its name, and it is still the credit we know best, but we factor every trailer type and any load on the same terms.

Can I factor loads I book on BulkLoads?

Yes, when the broker or shipper is approved. Every customer is credit checked before you can factor their loads. Clients can check the approved shipper list before booking, and a customer who is not on it is a phone call.

What paperwork does a bulk load need?

All the paperwork related to the load, which depends on the customer. The most common are the rate confirmation, scale tickets and bill of lading. Upload it all to the Smart Freight Portal.

Not hauling bulk?

Flatbed, reefer, dry van, tanker, livestock and hotshot are factored on the same terms.
